Step 1 – Measure the wax

For example, if you’re making a jar candle then, fill that jar with wax flakes then double the amount. It’s like you will need two jars of dry wax for making one jar candle.

Step 2 – Melt the Wax

Pour the wax in double boiler and allow it to melt for 10-15 minutes. Just in case you don’t have one, you can make one at your home. Take a saucepan, add water to it then place a can or some metal container above it and let the water get hot enough to melt the wax. Add wax to the metal can or container, keep stirring it with a wooden stick or spatula until it liquefies.

Step 3 – Add Fragrance Oils

When your candle wax is fully in a liquid state, it’s time to add fragrance oils.

For a fragrance oil with a subtle scent: If you’re using fragrance oil that comes with a subtle aroma then we will recommend you to add 8-10% fragrance oil in proportion to the ratio of wax.

For a fragrance oil with a strong scent: If you’re using fragrance oil that comes with a strong aroma then we will recommend you to add 6-8% fragrance oil in proportion to the ratio of wax.

Step 4 – Attach the wick

The wick needs to be attached at the bottom of your jar before beginning with the wax pouring process. Here’s a trick, just pour a little wax at the base of the jar then quickly attach wick to it. This will keep them stable, tie the wick to wick holder to keep it straight.

Step 5 – Pour Wax

Before you pour the wax in a container, make sure that the temperature of the wax is 140 degrees, use a thermometer to get the actual reading. Tightly hold the wick in place and then slowly start pouring melted wax, stop pouring when two inches are left from the top.

Step 6 – Add more wax

If your candle gets hardened with some holes or an uneven top then simply reheat the remaining wax and pour it on the top, this will give a perfect finish to the candle.

Step 7: Cut the wick.

Once the candle wax has hardened, you need to cut the wick. Your candle wick should be a minimum half-inch above wax.

Give a Creative Edge to Your Candles

Option 1

Just buy some dried flowers or botanicals from a store and add them to the jar before pouring wax. You can add different colors, shapes, and sizes for a more visually appealing outlook.

Option 2

You can add coffee beans in jars while creating vanilla scented candles, the aroma of vanilla and coffee will be absolutely amazing.

Option 3

Create some sea-inspired candles by adding seashells and pebbles at the bottom of your jar candles.
